Captian’s Log Route & Arrival

After a steady 3.5-hour run from Nantucket in moderate seas, MagicTime arrived in Block Island’s Great Salt Pond, one of New England’s most iconic harbors. The crew was ready for a well-deserved pause on our way west to Montauk, and this stop offered the perfect mix of convenience, charm, and island hospitality.

Docking at New Harbor

We secured a transient slip at New Harbor Boat Basin, where the dock team made tying up effortless. With full shore power, easy access, and a friendly atmosphere, it was the ideal place for both crew and pup to stretch. Ivey, our four-legged first mate, was delighted to explore the grass along the docks before we settled in for lunch.

Lunch at The Oar

Just steps from the slip, we found ourselves at The Oar— a beloved Block Island institution known for its dockside dining, sushi, and of course, the famous mudslides. We shared lobster rolls and a sushi platter while watching boats come and go in the harbor. The relaxed vibe and waterfront views made it the perfect Block Island yacht lunch stop.

Crew Notes

Refreshed and recharged, the crew returned to MagicTime in fine spirits. Ivey enjoyed her break ashore, and the team was ready to continue the course toward Montauk. This pause in Great Salt Pond reminded us how special Block Island is — a natural harbor that welcomes both yachts and their crews with equal warmth.
